Most people don't appreciate the enormity of Iran’s economic aid to the Assad regime since the 2011 uprising.

Using World Bank figures, $50 billion can eliminate poverty in Iran for nearly one year (312 days) under the extreme assumption that the 23 million impoverished Iranians have no income.

That same $50 billion almost equals Syria’s state revenues for the past 10 years combined (2013–2023), noting that a considerable share of state “revenues” is simply newly-printed money.

It would have been less painful had the resources of innocent Iranians been used to help the people of another country. Instead, the funds are used to corrupt, kill, and hijack the innocent people of another country.
